Privacy Policy

1. Local-First Design

SimpleFixAI operates entirely on your local machine. Your diagnostic results, repair history, system snapshots, and undo data are stored on your PC and are never transmitted to our servers.

2. What We Collect

When anonymous telemetry is enabled (the default), we collect:

• Usage events: Whether a repair ran and whether it succeeded or failed
• Category of repair: The general category (e.g., “network”, “disk”) and the specific fix module names that ran (e.g., “dns_reset”, “winsock_repair”)
• Repair details: Duration in milliseconds and the AI model used (e.g., “mistral-7b”, “gemma-2b”, or “rule_based”)
• App version and OS version: To identify compatibility issues
• Hardware tier: A general classification (e.g., “8GB RAM tier”) not your specific hardware serial numbers or identifiers
• Anonymous session ID: A random identifier that rotates every 7 days. It is not linked to your name, email, or device serial number.
• Truncated error details: When a fix or background process fails, the first 500 characters of the error message and exception type. May contain technical context such as Windows error codes; not intended to capture personal data.
• Watchdog activity: Which background check fired (e.g., “disk_usage”), severity level, and whether the issue was auto-fixed
• Security state flags: Short labels when system protections change state (e.g., “defender_disabled”, “firewall_public_off”). Flags only, not detailed configurations.
• Timestamps: When events occurred

3. What We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers (unless you create an account)
• Full diagnostic output or complete system scan results (truncated error messages may be collected when a fix fails: see Section 2)
• IP addresses (our telemetry endpoint does not log IPs)
• Keystrokes or general screen recordings outside of crash-time error replays (see Section 6, Sentry)
• Detailed registry values or service configuration contents (only short state flags such as “defender_disabled” are sent: see Section 2)

4. Account Data

If you create an account (optional, not required to use SimpleFixAI), we store:

• Email address
• Subscription tier and billing status
• Account creation date

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full payment details. See stripe.com/privacy for their data practices.

5. Your Controls

• Disable telemetry: Settings → Privacy → turn off “Share anonymous usage data.” When disabled, all queued telemetry events are deleted and no future events are sent.
• Delete your account: Contact support@simplefixai.com. We will delete your account data within 30 days.
• Your repair data stays local: Uninstalling SimpleFixAI removes the app. Your snapshot data is stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\SimpleFixAI\ and you can delete this folder to remove all local data.

6. Third-Party Services

• Stripe: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions
• Supabase: Account authentication and subscription management
• Cloudflare: Anonymous telemetry ingestion (when enabled) and app update delivery
• Sentry: Crash and error reporting. Captures stack traces, app version, and (only when an error occurs in the user interface) a short replay of the last several seconds of UI activity to help us reproduce bugs. Configured to strip user identifiers and disable default PII collection.
• PostHog: Product analytics on which app screens and features are used. Page views are not auto-captured. Used to understand which screens cause confusion or drop-off.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

7. Children's Privacy

SimpleFixAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Data Retention

• Telemetry data: Aggregated and anonymized. Individual events are not retained beyond 90 days.
• Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Local data: Stored on your PC under your control. SimpleFixAI retains the 20 most recent repair snapshots and prunes older ones automatically.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
