Windows Spotlight, repaired
The release a support email built: a real support case drove a new one-click repair for Windows Spotlight lock screen images that get stuck for months.
- A new one-click Windows Spotlight repair, built from a real support case. Someone wrote in about Windows 10 Spotlight images frozen for months and offered to pay because no one had solved it, and that case drove every item in this release. The repair removes exactly the leftover blocking values that cleaner and debloat tools leave behind, resets the stuck image cache while recording exactly what it renamed so undo restores only that, and re-registers the delivery component.
- Honest about the limits. The repair is classified as partially reversible with an automatic Restore Point, and it was proven end to end on a live virtual machine before shipping: the fix worked, an untouched control was left alone, and the undo restored the original state exactly.
- Honest on managed PCs. If your machine is domain-joined and a workplace policy owns the blocking values, the app says so with a dedicated guidance card instead of promising a removal the next policy refresh would just undo.
- Fixing is not disabling. Asking to fix a broken feature now proposes a repair, and only an explicit request to turn something off proposes turning it off. That was the exact confusion the support case ran into.
- When a repair fails you now see its real error line instead of a generic message, and background readings got more honest: the process monitor no longer reports all-zero usage, and the storage scan says when it could not finish rather than showing an incomplete total.
